Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is an action adventure game with RPG elements, based on the license of the Guardians of the Galaxy brand owned by Marvel. The production was developed by Eidos Montreal studio, which became famous for such projects as Deus Ex: Rebellion of Mankind and Shadow of the Tomb Raider, among others, and was published by Square Enix.
The plot
Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy takes us on a journey to the science fiction universe known from the comic book original. A dozen years ago, the entire galaxy was shaken by a gigantic war, the effects of which are still being felt today. However, as it turns out, its troubles do not end there - as a result of a series of catastrophic events, another interplanetary crisis began to loom on the horizon.
Only the titular Guardians, led by the main character of the described game - Peter "Star-Lord" Quill - can deal with the coming problems. Together with Groot, Gamora, Draks and Rocket, the protagonist goes on a journey, during which the whole team will face numerous threats and sometimes get into trouble. The whole thing is characterized by a powerful load of humor.
Gameplay
In Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy the action is observed from a third-person perspective (TPP). During the game we play exclusively as Star-Lord, in whose skin we traverse a variety of colorful levels, conduct interactive conversations and fight battles.
On our way we regularly encounter opponents (including bosses), which we eliminate using the protagonist's elemental guns and jet boots. In addition, during the clashes we give orders to the other members of the team, indicating the targets on which they are to use their special attacks. In the heat of battle, we can order a gathering to give a motivating speech to comrades (this requires selecting a dialogue option appropriate to the situation) and put them on their feet and provide them with various reinforcements.
As we progress, we gain experience points and acquire more special abilities for both Star-Lord and the other members of the team. We also acquire parts for acquiring various upgrades. In addition, the game often gives us the opportunity to choose dialogue options, which affects the relationships between the characters, and sometimes also determines the course of the story - although the game has an essentially linear structure, and the story heads towards one predetermined ending.
