A graphically refreshed single-player campaign from the original Crysis 3, a first-person shooter released in 2013 for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. The creators of the entire series, Crytek studio, are responsible for creating the remastered version.
Storyline
The story presented in Crysis 3 Remastered is identical to the original and tells of the final attempt to drive the Cepids from Earth. As in Crysis 2, the action is set in New York, this time in the year 2047, 24 years after the previous installment. The main character is Prophet, who previously appeared as a supporting character, a former Delta Force soldier with vast knowledge of the invaders thanks to his contact with their leader, Cepid Alpha. In order to protect New York, the C.E.L.L. corporation has built a huge dome over the city, helping to warm the prevailing temperatures and turning the ruins into a jungle.
With the support of guerrillas, including Psycho, known from Crysis and Crysis: Warhead, among others, Prophet seeks to uncover the corporation's goals and rid the city of the depleted but still menacing aliens.
Mechanics
The locations available in the game have a very open structure, so we can approach each mission in many ways. Additional possibilities in this matter provide us with a nanosuit, capable of turning us both into a living tank in armor mode and a silent assassin in camouflage mode. In addition, it allows us to move faster, jump high and lift heavy objects, which can be used to gain an advantage over opponents in combat.
Among the available weapons we will find pistols, rifles and shotguns. A considerable novelty compared to the previous installment is also the bow, which we use without draining the suit's batteries. Combined with high damage, different types of arrows and tension, this makes it the perfect weapon for quietly eliminating enemies. We equip the equipment at our own discretion with many types of sights, magazines or accessories like grenade launchers or handles that allow us to grip the weapon more securely. In combat we support ourselves with grenades, rocket launchers or C4 charges, and all resources are replenished by collecting ammunition from enemies or from special crates placed in different corners of the maps.
By opening special cargoes of the C.E.L.L. corporation, we gain unique packages that allow us to upgrade the nanosuit. We then set the purchased upgrades into special sets so that they are active during gameplay. We can make fights easier for ourselves by marking our opponents before the battle begins, using a special viewfinder. In the darkness, on the other hand, we are aided by the nanovision, allowing us to see the temperature of all surrounding objects, including enemies.
